19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.
He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
